GALLERY DIRECTOR

Simon Chan is the director and founder of Art Atrium. A practising architect for more than 30 years, Simon's long-standing interest in art led to the establishment of the contemporary Australian and Aboriginal art gallery, Art Atrium, in 2009.

With the strength of his architectural background and design expertise laying the foundation for his passion for art, Simon's vision for Art Atrium was to openly share his appreciation for art while simultaneously pushing traditional artistic boundaries.

Prior to launching Art Atrium, Simon's passion and commitment to art manifested in his appointment as Treasurer and Director to the board of the Aboriginal Benefits Foundation. The Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation involved in Indigenous art and culture, seeking to promote and improve the welfare of Aboriginal communities in Australia.

Simon has also been involved in a broad range of community groups including his role as a Community Ambassador for the Art Gallery of NSW and as a member of the Woollahra Council Public Art Advisory Committee.
